Parenting Under Difficult Circumstances
This parenting class addresses some of the stressors for individuals parenting under challenging circumstances, including custody, separation and divorce.
Families Together
This class offers families an opportunity to come together to explore topics such as child development, discipline, communication patterns, and family rituals. This class is designed with both - parent and child curriculums. A family meal is shared.
Parents of Teens
As teens, children have more time away from their parents to make decisions on their own, bringing a unique set of challenges for parents. This class offers parents the opportunity to connect with others similar to themselves and discuss ways to best help their children as they grow up. Topics will include: positive communication, discipline, dealing with peer pressure and parenting a teenager.
Cooperative Parenting and Divorce
This class addresses open communication between parents dealing with divorce, separation and custody issues.
Conscious Fathering "Baby Basics" for Dads
A three hour class for new and expectant dads. This class address the five essential needs of babies:
- Feeding your baby
- Burping your baby
- Comforting your baby
- Your resting baby
- Your crying baby
This class will be held in various locations throughout Strafford County.
"How to Deal"
This intensive parenting class takes a practical look at parenting under stressful situations. Topics such as effective communication, discipline, navigating through community systems and co-parenting are a few of the topics covered. No childcare provided.
You Make the Difference
You Make the Difference is a parent-child interactive program for mothers, fathers and their young children ages 0-5. Discover how to use everyday routines and activities to help your child learn language and develop social skills, feel good about themselves, and get their learning off to a good start. This program was developed by the Hanen Centre.
Parenting the Young Child - "Family Focus" Classes
Individual classes teaching the necessary parenting skills through these stages::
- Parenting the young child
- Parenting the school age child
- Parenting the adolescent
Parenting and the Blended Family
A class designed to give blended families strategies for communication, problem solving, discipline, understanding new roles, rules and acceptance among step-parents, step-children and step-siblings.
Personal Power for Parents and Children
This program, for parents and their children, will address topics such as: conflict resolution, stress and anger management,
and expressing feelings.
Nuturing Fathers
This program is for dads who want to cultivate and support the attitudes and skills for male nurturance - to benefit men, children and family relationships.
Just Like Me!
A program for pre-teen and teenage girls and their parents. This class addresses, among other topics, self-esteem, confidence building and peer pressure among young women in our society today.
Staying Connected with your Teen
A class for parents designed to teach strategies to effectively communicate and understand their teen.
Participants MUST call 749-9755 X 10 to register in advance for our classes. The location and availability of childcare will depend upon the class. Please check the calendar of events for the most updated information.
